Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), in collaboration with Indian Railways and Chennai Port Authority, inaugurated the 'TVS Go Green Express', a multi-modal logistics initiative. The first train transported 29 FEUs (58 TEUs) of TVS Motors containers from Jolarpet to Kamarajar Port, in a step towards an eco-friendly and efficient container transport.
The train was received at Kamarajar Port by Mr. Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, along with other dignitaries. A total of 29 FEUs (58 TEUs) of TVS Motors containers, destined for African nations, were loaded with auto commodities averaging 20 MT per container. This initiative marks a milestone in improving container transportation between Chennai Ports and regions like Northern Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, and Southern Karnataka. It aims to enhance port efficiencies by ensuring congestion-free entry into ports while facilitating faster logistics solutions.
The project integrates LNG-powered CONCOR vehicles for First Mile connectivity, showcasing a commitment to sustainable logistics practices. This blend of road and rail transport underpins CONCOR’s multi-modal capabilities and focus on reducing carbon emissions. It further aligns with India’s green logistics objectives by promoting cost-effective practices, enhancing port operations and connectivity, towards setting a benchmark for future sustainable logistics models.
