Value: 145 Crore | The state government approved a mega culture centre in Bodhgaya to be built for Rs 145 crore
The building construction department will be the executing agency for the project. Chief minister Nitish Kumar passed the decision at the cabinet meeting held in the secretariat
The cultural centre at Bodhgaya will be built under the Centre-sponsored Swadesh Darshan Yojana, for which a detailed project report has been approved," said Upendra Nath Pandey, special secretary in the cabinet department
The detailed project report, the cultural centre will have 2,000-seat and 500-seat auditoriums, utility building, guard room, boundary, site development and electrification. Work is expected to be completed within 24 months
The Centre has approved Rs 98.73 crore for the project while the Bihar government will bear an additional cost of Rs 46.41 crore
Bihar will request the central government to approve the enhanced amount which was raised by the engineer-in-chief of the building construction department while conducting the technical approval of the project
In other decisions, the Bihar cabinet approved expenditure of Rs 783 crore on phase-II of drinking water supply scheme in Hajipur, Bagaha, Motihari, Siwan, Ara, Begusarai, Kishanganj, Katihar, Buxar, Sasaram, Chapra, Jehanabad and Biharsharif under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme; Rs 49 crore for construction of storm water drainage project from Beur Mor to Mithapur bus stand and Rs 37 crore on WAPCOS Limited, a public sector unit, as project development and management consultant for the project
It upgraded the recently created post of inspector-general (prohibition) to additional director-general (ADG)/ IG (prohibition)
The APJ Abdul Kalam Science City was fast-tracked with the cabinet approving selection of Bangalore-based Flying Elephant group as the consultant consortium for Rs 44 crore
The cabinet also decided to provide government guarantee to Nabard or other financial institutions for Rs 500-crore loan to the Bihar State Cooperative Bank Limited for the 2017-18 kharif crop season
