The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation as a part of the smart city project has decided to set up an inter-modal transport hub in Vadaj area. The inter modal hub will connect inter and intra modes including the ambitious bullet train project
Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar talking to reporters announced the project and said that the hub will connect metro and GSRTC bus station and metro in Ranip area. Apart from this the hub will also be connected with the bullet train and Sabarmati Railway station through battery operated vehicles
The commissioner said that the hub will be based on DBFOT (Design Build Finance, Operate and Transfer). AMC is leveraging land value, wherein operator is bringing in all investments
Apart from providing connection with AMTS, people coming in the city can use stay in facilities
A senior officer said the hub will come up in area of 26,709 sq meter. The hub will have an FSI of 4.0 which will give a FSI area of 1.07 lakh sq meter. The hub is likely to have a basement parking and will house commercial facilities up to 14th floor
The hub is expected to cater to the needs of 51,887 passengers by 2022 which included 3,837 passengers of Metro, 20,840 passengers of GSRTC; 14,818 passengers of BRTS and 12,392 passengers of AMTS. The projection for the project reveal that this will increase to 71,384 by 2032
The officials said that the Chandrabhaga canal will also be covered and hence the authorities are planning to use this covered area to connect the bullet train station
