Cidco has decided to construct a swimming pool-cum-club house in the Spaghetti housing scheme area in Kharghar’s sector 15 at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore
The facility was originally planned by Cidco but never constructed and the swimming pool area got turned into a garden and parking area
The design and construction tender for the project will be floated soon
Cidco Khaghar node superintending engineer Sitaram Rokade said, “The club house-cum-swimming pool in the Spaghetti housing scheme area will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore. The swimming pool will be constructed at the same location where it was originally planned. The pool will be 14 metre long and 12 metre wide. A children’s pool, measuring 6m x 6m, will be built adjoining the main pool. The facility will also have an office, a gymnasium and indoor game facilities
”
The project has angered some residents of the society. Ajit Adsule, one of the residents, said, “The members of few buildings (JKLM) have opposed the plan. The swimming pool area has now been turned into a garden. A majority of the society’s residents have demand construction of the pool on the land where it was originally planned
”
Another resident Nandkishore Agrawal said, “The swimming pool was planned by Cidco when the housing project came up and was offered to us. It was there even in the brochure but was never constructed for over a decade. Few influential Cidco officials have played a role in delaying the construction as the Iand has been usurped for other purposes
”
Confirming the objections, Cidco Kharghar node superintending engineer Sitaram Rokade said, “The swimming pool will be constructed on the area where it was planned. The work will be completed within 12 months from the time the contract is awarded
