work has finally commenced on Dharamshala-McLeodganj passenger ropeway project being set up at a cost of Rs 144.9 crore
For Dharamshala Ropeway, the concessionaire involves development of passenger ropeway from Dharamshala-Dalailama Temple-McLeodganj in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The ropeway project stretches in length of 2.36 km
The land requirement for the project is around 2.24 ha, out of which forest land is 1.69 ha. The 1,638 mtr ropeway will have 24 gondola lifts and a capacity to carry 1,000 passengers per hour
In 2015, Tata Realty and Infrastructure had bagged an order to execute the project. In 2016, the then Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh laid the foundation stone for the project
Soon after, the company received letter of award (LoA) and terms of reference (TOR) for the project. In 2017, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) accorded environmental clearance for the ropeway project
