The cityscape of Noida is all set to change. Work on one of the three elevated roads mooted to help mitigate congestion on city roads — above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, between sectors 41-49 crossing and Sector 82 — is to begin by January next year, officials said
“The proposed 5.5 km elevated road will begin near Aghapur village in Sector 41 and go up to Sector 82 T-point. Tendering for the estimated Rs 500 crore project will be finalised by November this year and work to begin by January 2019,” Samakant Srivastava, general manager (civil), Noida Authority, told
It will take 36 months to complete the project,” the general manager added
Once operational, motorists travelling towards Barola in the Sector 49 area, Salarpur and Bhangel up to Sector 82 T-point will have a signal-free ride, thereby easing the pressure of traffic in the area. The road is planned to make Noida decongested from the ever-increasing traffic, which is a result of higher vehicle density in the city,” Srivastava said
According to officials, the elevated road will be a six-lane stretch, with three lanes on each carriageway
While the DSC Road is one of the busiest, the situation is made worse from the stretch between Barola village near Sectors 49 and Sector 82, being narrow and heavily encroached upon. The proposed elevated road will address this issue once completed
The three new elevated roads were proposed by a committee of three ministers — UP industries minister Satish Mahana, urban housing minister Suresh Khanna and sugar mills minister Suresh Rana — that was formed on October 5, 2017, to ready an action plan to reduce traffic congestion in Noida
Apart from the one above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, a 4.8km elevated road above the Shahdara drain, starting from Delhi’s Chilla and ending at Sector 95 in Noida, and another above Master Plan-1 Road, between sectors 19/2 and sectors 12/22, are the other two
