Gas Authority of India (GAIL) (India) is planning to set up 597 CNG stations across Kerala within a year. This will ramp up the CNG offtake in the state

The company has set up four LNG stations in Kochi in February 2018. While five more outlets will be opened within next 15 days

The daily CNG offtake from the stations has already escalated from 200 kg to 3,500 kg

The Union petroleum ministry has targeted reaching out to 300 more districts across the country, in its goal to add 17 million vehicles to CNG use

Apart from this, construction work is in full swing on the 437 km Kochi-Mangalore gas pipeline which will be completed by March 2019
