The Chandigarh Administration has swung into action for the construction of multi level basement parking between Chandigarh Judicial Academy and New District Court Complex in Sector 43 here. The proposed parking will accommodate around 2000 cars in Sector 43. As per the proposal, the multi-level parking will have one level of basement, ground floor and two upper floors. The approximate covered area for the project is 3,26,508 sft. “An estimate of Rs 81 crore was approved for the project. The Administration has decided to hire a consultant for preparation of environment impact assessment study for the multi-level parking project in Sector 43 here,” said a senior official of UT Administration. He said that the study will be done for obtaining environmental clearance from Union Ministry. The demand for the multi-level parking was hanging fire for several years as the volume of cars and people visiting the Court premises has been increasing, the officer added. The study of the proposed parking project will include aspects namely ambient air quality, vehicular traffic density, flora and fauna, water quality, socio-economic survey, vehicular traffic density among other factors. The proposed parking will not only accommodate vehicles of visitors to the District Court Complex but also for surrounding spill over parking. It is proposed that vehicles coming to ISBT-43 and the Chandigarh Judicial Academy will also be accommodated in the parking facility | Updated on: 21 - Mar - 2020
