A joint venture of Skanska and Closner Construction has secured a $206M contract from Duke LifePoint Healthcare to manage the construction of its new replacement hospital for the existing UP Health System-Marquette (pictured) in Michigan
The new 50,000sq m facility, designed by Gresham Smith & Partners, includes 243 beds, 14,000sq m of space for diagnostic and therapeutic services and 17,000sq m of patient care services
The project will include 1,400sq m of administrative support services, 4,000sq m of operational support services, a new central power plant, and mechanical, electrical and telecommunications areas
Additionally, it will feature a 9,000sq m adjoining medical office building, and a 16,000sq m parking lot
Construction work started in May 2016 and is scheduled for completion in October 2018
