Work on 130 MW solar plant begins
The first unit of the 1,000-MW Neyveli New Thermal Power Station project (2x500 MW), now under construction, is likely to be commissioned in March 2018 and the second unit in the next two months thereafter, according to NLC India Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sarat Kumar Acharya
He told that supplies and erection work were in progress for steam generator, turbo generator and balance of plant package
In addition to the existing 45 MW from wind power in Tirunelveli and 10 MW Solar power projects at Neyveli, NLC India has commenced the construction of a 130 MW solar power plant at Neyveli
Land acquisition
NLC India has planned to install power plants with net capacity of 500 MW in different parts of Tamil Nadu
The identification of land required for the project was under way
This was part of NLC India’s Solar Mission of adding 4,000 MW through installation in various parts of the country
Meanwhile, NLC India has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Damodar Valley Corporation in West Bengal for acquisition of a 1,200 MW Thermal Power Project at Raghunathpur
