A jewellery park is being planned in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai, which will comprise nearly 4,000 jewellery units. The first-of-its-kind park envisages an estimated investment of Rs 13,800 crore which is expected to add one lakh jobs in the sector.
In 2018, the government of Maharashtra and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to open a jewellery park.
GJEPC has had discussions with Rajasthan government to set up a first-of-its-kind world-class gem bourse in Jaipur similar to the Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai.
