Value: 40 Crore | The technical committee of the Chandigarh Smart City Company Limited approved the request for proposal (RFP) to float the tender for its legacy waste biomining project to clear around 5 lakh tonnes of garbage dump from Dadumajra. The project is estimated to cost nearly Rs 40 crore. The dumping site at Dadumajra covers nearly 20 acres of land
The company has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to give special permission to float tender for the project and start the work on the ground soon
it has been decided in the meeting that the selected competent company will be given 250 days. Out of these 250 days, 180 days should be utilised for the actual work on the ground and remaining days should be used to mobilise machinery and other infrastructure and bring them to the location. Since, it is technical work, the RFP has been prepared accordingly," said a senior officer
The Dadumajra dump will be sorted into three categories - refuse derived fuel (RDF), construction and demolition (C&D) waste and the rest and will be disposed off accordingly from the site. "According to the plan, the RDF will be sold to cement companies, for C&D waste, a C&D plant in the city will be put in the low lying areas of the city for developing gardens or green belts," sources revealed
The committee has also approved that the entire work will be monitored through supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). "The SCADA system will be set-up in the MC office.''said an official
