Value: 380 Crore | Yamaha Corporation, the musical instrument maker, has announced the launch of its Indian manufacturing unit on 27 May 2019 at ‘OneHub Chennai’ industrial township located on the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu
The unit has been set up at an investment of Rs 380 crore. Phase-I of Yamaha Music India’s plant was built on 20,000 sq mtr of the total land availability of 1,20,000 sq mtr
The Chennai plant which began commercial production in March 2019 will manufacture portable keyboards and acoustic guitars for both domestic and international markets
The company currently targets to produce 1,50,000 keyboards and about 2,00,000 lakh guitars annually. It intends to scale up its production, depending upon the demand factors and reach its annual production target of four lakh guitars and three lakh portable keyboards per year
The company will utilise the remaining land to expand its manufacturing unit in future. Over 50 percent of the production will be for the Indian market and the rest for exports
