A proposal for the construction of zero waste park in Nathuwawala was also passed in the board meeting. Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ will be inaugurating the project on June 6. This will be the first of its kind in Uttarakhand and is being constructed as a pilot project on 36,000 square feet land.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Feedback Foundation Ajay Sinha told The Pioneer, “In ward number 100- Nathuwawala, there are 4,000 households and about 40 bulk waste generators such as wedding points and schools. The project will collect waste from these waste generators in four different categories — dry, wet, domestic hazardous and bio-medical waste. The project will be in accordance with the SWM Rules and only five per cent of the total waste generated will be sent further to Sheeshambada waste management plant. Electronic waste will be sent for recycling, dry waste will be further categorised into sub-divisions, wet waste will be decomposed in the 60 per cent of the 36,000 square feet and for the bio-medical waste we will tie up with the vendors who collect waste from hospitals in Doon
