The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is planning to make an investment of Rs 100 crore to construct 200 km of sewer lines in the new areas of the city within the next couple of years
The project will cover the areas in Pathardi, Makhmalabad, Mhasrul, Adgaon and other places on the outskirts of the city
NMC has sought financial assistance from the government for undertaking the project. The civic body has prepared the Godavari rejuvenation project entailing an investment of Rs 1,800 crore
This project also includes developing a sewer network in the new developing areas on the outskirts of the city
The city currently has 1,750 km length of underground sewer lines. The construction of another 70 km length of new lines is underway and the project is expected to be completed by March 2022
both sewer and stormwater lines were the same. But the civic body has now started separating them. There are many houses that have connected their sewage outlets to the stormwater lines instead of designated sewer linens and hence stormwater lines are flooded during the heavy rainfall in the monsoon
NMC has appealed residents to connect their sewage outlets to the sewer lines instead of the stormwater line. About 3.5 lakh properties have connected their sewage outlets to the sewer lines so far. Apart from the sewer lines, it has stormwater lines of 360 km
