H2 Industries has received preliminary approval from the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) for the construction of the first waste-to-hydrogen plant in Egypt
The one GW facility will be constructed particularly in East Port Said, and it will produce 3,00,000 tonne of hydrogen each year at half the cost of current production technologies while consuming four million tonne of organic waste and non-recyclable plastics in the process
The project, estimated to cost USD three million, will be carried out in three phases, the last of which is expected to be completed within a period of five years
