The Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) intends to build the Handia barrage, powerhouse, and piped irrigation system in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh on a turnkey basis
The scope of the project involves the construction of a powerhouse for 25 MW (8.33 MW x 3) with all ancillary works, piped irrigation system to supply water through a pressurised pipeline system for micro-irrigation (drip/sprinkler) to deliver to farmers' fields with a duty of 0.36 ltr per sec per hectare, OMS at 20 hectare chak with ten times duty from 20 hectare to 2.5 hectare chak with at least 23 mtr
In November 2022, Karan Development Services was awarded the contract by the NVDA for approx. Rs 1160.83 crore
NVDA has applied to the state environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA) for terms of reference (TOR) for the project's EIA/EMP report
work on the project is expected to begin in Q2/FY24, with completion scheduled for August 2027
