The state of Maharashtra in India has been taking significant strides towards adopting renewable energy sources, and the latest development in this area is the establishment of the district’s first solar agriculture-feeder plant in Ahmednagar. The 5.45-hectare land purchased by the government will be used to build a 5MW solar power facility that will generate electricity to be fed into the MSEDCL grid, providing reliable daytime electrical supply for agricultural applications in two villages in Rahata taluk
farmers in the district receive only limited power supply in rotating periods during the day, which is not enough to meet their needs for irrigation and other agricultural activities. The establishment of this solar feeder plant will provide farmers with 12 hours of daytime electricity, thereby enabling them to increase their productivity and improve their livelihoods
This project is part of the Chief Minister Solar Agriculture project, which aims to meet the energy demands of the agricultural sector in Maharashtra by using renewable energy sources. The deputy chief minister has set a target for 30% of all farm feeders in the state to be supplied by solar energy by the end of this year, and the government plans to use idle barren lands for this purpose
The establishment of the solar agriculture-feeder plant in Ahmednagar is a significant step towards achieving this target and providing reliable and sustainable power supply to farmers in the state.
