Australia-based Amphibian Aerospace Industries is planning to set up seven waterdromes in Tamil Nadu and three such facilities in Puducherry. The company manufactures Albatross which is a 28-seater amphibious aircraft capable of landing and taking off from land, water and snow
The project entails an investment of approximately Rs 1,000 crore in the next five years, and is expected to facilitate the creation of around 850 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs
Amphibian Aerospace, recently joined hands with Chennai-based defence-technology company Hawking Defence Services to set up a unit in Tamil Nadu for the manufacturing of aircraft components, as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services
The move complements the recent developments, including the release of the Tamil Nadu Aerospace and Defence Industrial Policy, 2022, which aims to attract investments into the state and provide employment to over a lakh people over the next 10 years
