Container Corporation of India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indraprastha Gas to explore the possibility of setting up LNG or LCNG infrastructure at its terminals in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Initially, both LNG and LCNG facilities shall be installed at Dadri (Gautam Budh Nagar) terminal of CONCOR
As part of the agreement, the partnership aims to evaluate the use of LNG-fired engines in place of existing diesel-fired engines, in various terminals of CONCOR. CONCOR and IGL have also agreed to explore the future possibility of transportation of LNG through railway rakes from terminals near sea ports to other locations within India
Both CONCOR and IGL aim to reduce carbon emissions, set new benchmarks, and promote a cleaner and sustainable future for the transportation industry. LNG trucks emit significantly lower levels of greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional diesel trucks
the objective is to revolutionise the logistics sector by replacing diesel with natural gas
