UltraTech Cement will invest upwards of Rs 800 crore for enhancing its presence in Maharashtra with the purchase of a unit, and capacity addition through brownfield expansion. Prominantly, the cement product will acquire a 1.1 million tonne grinding unit at Parli, Maharashtra from The India Cements for Rs 315 crore.
The company's Board has approved expanding production at this facility by 1.2 million tonne. Additionally, UltraTech will add 1.8 million tonne of capacity at its unit in Dhule, taking the total capacity at the unit to 3.6 million tonne. The outlay of Rs 504.4 crore for capacity expansion, and Rs 315 crore to be expended on the buying outt of the Parli unit, will be entirely funded through internal accruals.
UltraTech has the capacity to produce 147.3 million tonne of grey cement in India, and of this, nearly 23 million tonne of capacity will be in the state. The company plans to complete these capacity expansions in Maharashtra by 2025-26. The overall objective is to pursue efforts to increase production capacity to 200 million tonne.
