Jakson Green has bagged an order from state-owned NTPC for setting up a plant to produce 4G ethanol from flue gas. The proposed plant at Lara in Chhattisgarh will produce 10 tpd of 4G ethanol from flue gases emitted from power plants.
Jakson Green has been appointed as the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction (LEPC) partner to execute the world's first project for converting flue gas CO2 to 4G ethanol.
The plant will capture 25 tpd CO2 from flue gases, which would significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Increasing the production of ethanol is crucial to achieving blending goals, building energy security, and a cleaner future.
The captured CO2 and hydrogen will be converted into ethanol using advanced microbial fermentation technology provided by LanzaTech. Also, three tpd of green hydrogen will be generated through 7.5 MW electrolyser. Further, the initiative, developed by NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) its R&D wing, is set to be operationalised within two years.
With over 8,500 tpa of green hydrogen and its derivatives' capacity under development across six Power-to-X projects, Jakson Green is well-positioned to spearhead India's clean energy transition.
