Gensol Engineering has won an additional 250 MW/500 MW battery energy storage system project (BESS) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). This takes its order book to Rs 3,100 crore in the segment.
On commissioning at two Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) substations, the project will deliver 500 MW/1000 MWh energy for two charge/discharge cycles per day.
The project, including the first and second tranches, would offer a total revenue of Rs 2,685 crore over the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) tenure of 12 years.
GUVNL has allotted the greenshoe option of 250 MW/500 MWh to reach the 500 MW/1000 MWh BESS project. It will supply electricity on 'on demand' basis to the state's discoms during peak and off-peak hours, thus, extending renewable energy availability, and enhancing grid resilience.
Gensol Engineering specialises in solar power engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, as well as electric mobility solutions. GUVNL had earlier awarded the firm a BESS project in a similar capacity.
