Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Maharashtra, totaling over ?7,600 crore. Key initiatives include the upgrade of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, with an estimated cost of ?7,000 crore. This project aims to drive growth across various sectors, including manufacturing, aviation, tourism, logistics, and healthcare, benefiting Nagpur and the wider Vidarbha region.
Additionally, the Prime Minister initiated the construction of a New Integrated Terminal Building at Shirdi Airport, valued at over ?645 crore, designed to provide world-class amenities for religious tourists, featuring a construction theme inspired by the spiritual neem tree of Sai Baba.
To enhance healthcare accessibility, the Prime Minister announced the operationalization of 10 Government Medical Colleges across Maharashtra, located in cities like Mumbai, Nashik, and Amravati. These colleges will increase undergraduate and postgraduate seats and provide specialized tertiary healthcare.
In line with India's vision to become the 'Skill Capital of the World,' the Prime Minister inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai. This Public-Private Partnership, developed in collaboration with the Tata Education and Development Trust, aims to create an industry-ready workforce through advanced training in areas like mechatronics, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Lastly, the Prime Minister launched the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) of Maharashtra, which will provide students, teachers, and administrators with access to essential academic and administrative data through live chatbots. This initiative aims to improve resource management in schools and enhance the educational experience for students.
