The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of 2,280 km of roads in the border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab, with an investment of ?4,406 crore. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure development in these border regions, reflecting a shift towards prioritizing their growth with facilities comparable to other parts of the country.
The projects are expected to significantly improve road and telecom connectivity, as well as access to water supply, health, and education services. It will also enhance rural livelihoods, ease travel, and ensure these areas are well-connected to the broader highway network.
