AM Green has placed India's largest electrolyser order with John Cockerill for a 1.3 GW advanced pressurised alkaline electrolyser in an existing plant in Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

The plant is scheduled to start production in H2/2026. The1.3 GW of electrolysers are to be supplied in two phases of 640 MW each to produce green hydrogen and to convert into green ammonia. In August, AM Green made the final investment decision (FID) towards its first one-million-tonne green ammonia project.

Under the agreement, John Cockerill and AM Green are also developing India's largest electrolyser manufacturing plant of two GW per year in Kakinada, contributing to the country's green hydrogen production target. This plant will supply the second phase of electrolysers to the project.

This major order advances the agreement between the two companies to work on projects which will foster the creation of a green hydrogen ecosystem.
