The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved a ?50 crore project to redevelop VIP Road, a key route connecting the city with the airport, into a concrete road. This decision, inspired by the durable roads seen in Mumbai's Nariman Point, aims to better accommodate the high-profile VVIP movement along the route. However, the project has sparked environmental concerns, as the road passes near Ramsar sites like the Upper and Lower Lakes and the Bhoj Wetland area. Despite the project approval, the BMC has not yet set a timeline for its completion.
