AM/NS India, a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, plans to build a 17.8 million tonnes integrated steel project in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district, marking one of the largest recent greenfield investments. The project, totaling ?1.4 lakh crore, will be executed in two phases.

The first phase involves a 7.3 MMTPA blast furnace steel plant with an initial ?80,000 crore investment, for which the company has requested 2,600 acres. The second phase will expand capacity by 10.5 MMTPA with an additional ?60,000 crore investment, needing 2,000 more acres. Around 1,800 acres are immediately available near Nakkapalli bulk drug park for the initial phase.
