Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated key infrastructure projects worth ?187.33 crore at Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) and Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) to bolster port efficiency and promote green initiatives. Highlights include four new EXIM godowns at Chennai Port, costing ?73.91 crore under the Sagarmala scheme, providing 18,000 sq. meters of secure storage for sensitive cargo.
The Minister also launched a 350-meter concrete coastal road to improve access for heavy cargo and container movement, developed for ?4 crore. Additionally, a ?88.91 crore railway expansion at KPL adds 2.65 km of track, including three new rail bridges, enhancing connectivity for the growing EXIM trade.
