The government has signed a Rs 1,220.12 crore contract with Bharat Electronics (BEL) for procuring 149 software-defined radios for the Indian Coast Guard.
The agreement, under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, will enhance secure communication, situational awareness, and interoperability with the Indian Navy. Strengthening maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and fisheries protection, the project aligns with India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Blue Economy' initiatives, boosting domestic manufacturing and employment.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defence recently inked a Rs 642 crore deal with BEL for 28 EON-51 electro-optical fire control systems for the Indian Navy.
