The Rajasthan government has allocated Rs 12,000 crore for Jaipur Metro Line 2, marking the first major funding since the Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) was established 15 years ago.
The project, extending from Sitapura to Ambabari and Vidhyadhar Nagar, will now be executed by the newly formed Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC), a joint venture between the Centre and the state. Finance Minister Diya Kumari also announced the withdrawal of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project in Jaipur. Last year's budget had proposed extending Line 2 from Ambabari to Vidhyadhar Nagar, with JMRC tasked with preparing a revised detailed project report (DPR).
The report is nearly complete, awaiting state approval for construction. RMRC will also draft DPRs to extend the metro to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar. Additionally, the Finance Minister unveiled Rs 250 crore in developmental projects for Jaipur.
